Can Gratitude Help You Level Up Your Spiritual Growth? Let's Find Out!

Gratitude and forgiveness are two practices that can significantly impact our lives, empowering our spiritual growth, and helping us attract more positivity. When we embrace gratitude and forgiveness, we're able to break free from past hurts and open our hearts to new beginnings. In this blog post, we'll explore the importance of these practices and share some tips to help you elevate your spiritual awareness.

The Importance of Forgiveness

Forgiveness is essential for spiritual growth because it allows us to release old grudges and resentments that weigh us down. By forgiving others, as well as ourselves, we clear away the emotional baggage that stunts our spiritual development. This can also improve our mental health, relieve stress, and allow us to create more harmonious relationships.

When it comes to forgiveness, what I have noticed is that people can be resistant in forgiving others because they believe it lets the other person off the hook too easily.

One key element of forgiveness is understanding that everyone makes mistakes—we're all human. This understanding can help us have more compassion for ourselves and others.

Something that I like to share with my clients is…

Imagine you have a glass of water in your hand and you have that arm stretched out in front of you, at first the glass is light and you think nothing of it. But now imagine having the glass there for 5 minutes or so… is it still light, if not what is starting to happen?

Now, imagine having that glass in your hand outstretched in front of you for an hour, a week, a month or even years… What happens with your body then?

It's kinda like what Buddha says “Holding on to anger is like drinking poison and expecting the other person to die”.

So what I have found is, when you hold on to something another person has done, it affects you more than it ever affected them. So ultimately when you forgive that person's actions, it allows you to see the world through a new lens and creates a space for gratitude to enter your life instead of pain and suffering.

Personal Experiences and Benefits of Practicing Forgiveness and Gratitude

From my own experience, embracing gratitude and forgiveness has unlocked a new level of spiritual growth. When I started my gratitude practice, I noticed a shift in my mindset— things that I used to see in a negative point of view now became lessons which I could apply to my life.

I also found that forgiving others more easily led to the negative memories being transformed and brought forward more positive memories that had been long forgotten. Therefore bringing more positivity into my present life, which helped me manifest new opportunities and forge more harmonious relationships with people from my past, present and future.

I often have clients who come to me with past traumas even from their childhood that have long been buried. I help them to sift through the rubble to find the hidden gems (lessons)...

People often think they need to relive the trauma in order to let it go, but this belief is actually stopping people from letting go.

As a coach I help them identify the root cause so they can release their unwanted feelings making way for new feelings of love, peace and gratitude.

Here are Some Tips on How to Practice Gratitude

Practicing gratitude has been shown to positively influence mental well-being and help us attract more abundance into our lives. Here are some tips to help you cultivate a grateful mindset:

  1. Keep a gratitude journal: Each day, note down at least three things for which you are grateful. This simple act can help shift your focus onto the positive aspects of your life.

  2. Express gratitude to others: Take the time to tell people what you appreciate about them. This practice can strengthen your relationships and create a positive energy around you.

  3. Focus on the present moment: Practice mindfulness by appreciating your experiences in the "now" instead of fixating on the past or worrying about the future. Life is happening for you, not to you.
